The county board of supervisors denied the project 4–3 in May 2026. Opponents said its projected 600,000 gallons/day of water use could consume up to 90% of the zone's supply; the developer had offered $15 million for water infrastructure. Noise, rural character, and skepticism about jobs and revenue also featured.
