Effectively dead
QTS (Blackstone) & Compass Datacenters — 2,100 acres beside Manassas National Battlefield

Once slated to be among the world's largest data center corridors (up to 23 million sq ft), the project unraveled after a circuit court voided its 2023 rezoning on procedural grounds. Compass abandoned its appeal, the county withdrew from defending the lawsuit in April 2026, and QTS dropped its state supreme court appeal that July. More than 100 landowners with purchase contracts were left in limbo, some suing to exit. Update (Sept 2026): county supervisors voted 8–0 to shrink the area where data centers can be built by right from about 9,700 acres to about 3,650; projects outside it now need a special use permit (Bisnow).
