Citywide one-year moratorium

Moratorium
One of the largest U.S. cities to pause the industry

Denver's city council unanimously approved a one-year moratorium on new data center construction in May 2026 while the city develops regulations. Update (Oct 2026): the city named a 29-member working group to draft rules; it meets through May 2027, when the moratorium expires (Holland & Knight).
